Fiberglass replicas of the famous WACO bi-plane were recently featured during Troy’s “Sculptures on the Square” . With the help of The Future Begins Today, the WACO Historical Society and the Van Cleve art department, more than 350 Troy 6th graders and staff at Van Cleve School decorated one of the 26 planes that were displayed in the Troy Square. Each student was asked to write about their hopes and dreams, and then illustrate them in art class. The collage of pictures was then applied to the plane. This project incorporated local history, language arts, math skills and art.
The students named their plane “Dreams Take Flight”.
